Hidden in plain sight at 35 Belle Vue, just a few minutes' walk from Summerleaze Beach and Bude's main shopping triangle, Bar Thirty Five has been the town's go-to lounge for nearly two decades. Whether you're planning a milestone birthday, a hen weekend, an anniversary dinner, a wake, or a corporate Christmas party, our two-room layout and sunny courtyard give your group somewhere genuinely characterful to celebrate.
We're not a chain pub or a function room above a restaurant — we're an independent, family-run boutique bar. That means flexible bookings, real conversations with the people who'll be running your event on the night, and a bar list built from classic cocktails, Cornish ales, premium spirits, and a serious wine selection.
The spaces
The Lounge (left side)
Plush sofas, low lighting, a marble-topped bar, and a fireplace for winter evenings. Best for cocktail receptions, intimate birthdays, hen do welcome drinks, and book launches. Capacity around 30 seated, 50 standing.
The Bar Room (right side)
Traditional pub seating with a pool table, jukebox, and a long bar. Better for boisterous parties, stag dos, sports gatherings, and live music nights. Capacity around 30 seated, 50 standing.
The Courtyard
Our sun-trap courtyard is the genuine star of the venue. Heated for shoulder seasons, fairy-lit for evenings, and the closest thing Bude has to a continental terrace. Capacity 30 standing.
Exclusive whole-venue hire
Available by arrangement — comfortable capacity 80 guests across all three areas. Ideal for weddings (after-parties), 50th/60th milestone birthdays, and Christmas company events.

- Cocktail masterclass — your group is taught to make 3 signature cocktails by our bartenders. Popular for hen dos and corporate away-days.
- Welcome drink on arrival — Espresso Martinis, Aperol Spritzes, or bespoke cocktails matching your event colours.
- Custom playlist or pre-event music brief — tell us the vibe; we'll build it.
- Decoration coordination — drop balloons, flowers, or signage off in advance and we'll set up.
- External catering coordination — let us know who's bringing food and when; we'll receive it.

Birthday parties in Bude
Our most-booked event type. Milestone 30ths, 40ths, 50ths, and 60ths — anything from a quiet table for ten through to whole-venue exclusive hire. We handle the bar; you handle the cake.
Hen dos in Bude
Bude is one of Cornwall's most popular hen-do destinations. Bar 35 is the ideal first-night base — cocktail masterclasses, reserved lounge, and we're walking distance from beach activities, restaurants, and accommodation.
Stag dos in Bude
The Bar Room with the pool table works particularly well for stag groups. Pre-arrange a welcome round and a tab and the group can settle in without the usual queue chaos.
Corporate & team events
Christmas parties, summer socials, leaving dos, away-days. Bar 35 makes a refreshing change from the usual hotel-function-room option, and we're flexible on minimum spends for off-peak weekday bookings.
Funerals & wakes
The Lounge is a quiet, dignified space for memorial gatherings. We handle these with discretion and care — please call us to discuss directly.
Anniversary & engagement parties
The courtyard at sunset is a setting that's hard to match in Bude. Lower-key than a wedding, more memorable than a restaurant booking.
Pricing & how to book
For most weekday and Sunday bookings there is no hire fee — we just ask for a minimum bar spend appropriate to the group size and area reserved. Friday and Saturday evenings, and exclusive whole-venue hire, are quoted on a case-by-case basis depending on the date, duration, and any add-ons.

Frequently asked questions
What's the capacity?
Comfortable capacity is 30–80 guests depending on the spaces booked. Whole-venue exclusive hire fits up to 80.
Can we bring our own food?
Yes — we don't serve hot food, so guests are welcome to bring food in or arrange external catering. We provide our own snack menu plus the full bar.
Do you charge a deposit?
For larger bookings (40+ guests) and weekend exclusive hire, we ask for a refundable deposit to confirm the date. Smaller midweek bookings are usually held on a verbal commitment.
Is the venue accessible?
Ground floor access throughout, with accessible toilets. Please call ahead to discuss specific access needs.
How far in advance should I book?
For Friday/Saturday in summer and the December run-up, we recommend 6–8 weeks. Off-peak midweek bookings can usually be held with 2 weeks' notice.
